A Trip to Gaspé - Land's End

Land's End, known locally as Bout du Monde or La Pointe, is the dramatic rocky tip of Cap-Gaspé, standing at the eastern edge of Forillon National Park on the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. It felt, fittingly, like the place this whole idea had been heading towards since long before we ever got in the car. I first heard of the Gaspé Peninsula from my uncle Ash. Sometime in the 1980s, he had driven the same route with his own uncles, and decades later he could still describe, almost frame by frame, the exact stretch of Route 132 where the St. Lawrence quietly stops being a river and becomes a gulf. It was a small detail, but it lodged itself in my imagination: hundreds of miles with a great river on one side and mountains on the other, fishing villages tucked onto the slopes or huddled at their feet, looking almost too picturesque to be real. That image stayed with me for years before we finally set off to see it for ourselves. This picture story follows my family's journey along that same coast in the first week of August 2026.
